Trip to Lancaster

Over Easter weekend, Zoe, Cheryl and I took a trip out to Lancaster with Mimi and Joe Pop. We didn't get to make it to any Easter Egg Hunts, but there was still a lot of fun to be had. The hotel had an excellent indoor pool, which there are no pictures of, but there were plenty of bubbles and farm animals. We did take a nice train ride on Easter Sunday with the Easter Bunny, who was handing out lollipops. Zoe wasn't too keen on the actual bunny, but she is never one to pass up a free lolli. It was a great trip and I am always surprised at how well Zoe sleeps in a hotel room. I didn't wake up to a whispered, "Dada? Dada?" which was super cute in Florida, but she was super cute when we were swimming in the pool.

Easter Eggs

For Easter, Ben and Julia sent Zoe a set of three eggs that, after setting in water, hatch to reveal different baby animals. One of Zoe's resolutions for the new year was to work on her patience, so this really helped to test that out. First, we had to put all of the eggs in the water and let them sit. Zoe wasn't to keen on having something that was, as she would call it, "Mine!" just left in a tub of water. So she played with them until one dropped and hatched prematurely. Thankfully we were able to let the remaining eggs sit unmolested for several days, and Zoe was very happy with the results. She was such a proud mommy. Along with those eggs, Cheryl picked up some plastic eggs that would dye like the real thing. We had all sorts of colors, crayons, paints and dyes. Thankfully the smell of vinegar in the dyes kept Zoe from chugging them. I think she enjoy marking up her eggs for the holiday. Once they were dry, Zoe even got to put some stickers o

A Long Walk Away From Home

While Cheryl was overseeing junior derby, Zoe and I were at home plotting what to do with the beautiful weather. My intention was to go for a bike ride. Zoe seemed all for this, even asking for her helmet; however, as soon as the seat was attached to the bike, she didn't want to go. So, what was supposed to be a bike ride turned in to a walk. Now I had asked her if she wanted to go to the bookstore to get some new books. By that I mean the Penn bookstore, which is located on the corner of 36th and Walnut. From our house, according to Google maps, this is 1.7 miles. I loaded up the stroller with some snacks and a few diapers and we headed out. Along the way Zoe posed in front of her mural and wearing my hat. Now I know getting Zoe to stand still for a picture, while also looking at the camera, is an impressive feat, what was more impressive is that she walked and/or ran over half of the distance to the store. Not only that, but around 42nd Street she asked for wubby. Not fin

Just Hanging Out

So the other day Zoe and I were just hanging out at Clark Park and I asked her to smile for me. I eventually got a somewhat descent picture of her, but the second one below clearly illustrates that she is my daughter. Just take a look at this face. On Tuesday Zoe was sick, so I stayed home with her. She fell asleep in our bed, and then, after trying to go without a nap, she passed out on the couch with a chocolate mustache and goatee. Later in the day she seemed to be on the mend, but she still needed to stay home another day. Thankfully, after that, she was all better.
