Snow Time at Temple

It's late March and we're still getting snow. And not just a few flakes here and there, but a good deal of snow. Zoe loves playing in the snow, even if she is not dressed appropriately. Thankfully she agreed to put on her snow pants and jacket before she went out to start building a fort. She has also told us about how much she enjoys smiling and sticking her tongue through the gap in her bottom teeth. She likes the way it feels and I like the way it looks. The next day Zoe had go to to work with Cheryl. Thankfully there was still some snow on the ground to stomp through. And, of course, nothing is better after trouncing through the snow then a nice, sweet treat. After all of that fun, even an energetic little girl needs her rest. Thankfully, mommy's office comes with a full set of amenities, including a pull out couch. They both had a great day. One was able to attend a full day of working, including a number of meetings, while the other one got to la

Sixth Birthday Party

This year we went with an outdoor, hiking theme for Zoe's party. Cheryl did all of the logistics and coordinating, thank goodness, as well as the compass bracelet making, and I helped out with putting together the scavenger hunt and hiking portions of the day. We reserved the cabin in Lorimer Park and anxious awaited the 40+ children that were invited. Here's a taste of what happened. I am happy to report that all of the children that went out on the hike made it back. I can't say the same for the adults, they weren't my responsibility. Everyone seemed to have a great time. The pinata did not last nearly as long as it should have, but everyone got enough candy. It will be difficult to top this one next year, so we'll see what happens. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend. It was a great day to spend with family and friends outside.

Sixth Birthday

This year Zoe's birthday fell on a Thursday, so we planned her party for the following Sunday. However, she had a very busy birthday! First, she lost her second tooth. It was a pretty exciting event, but the best part, by far, is the reaction that Cheryl recorded. Here are a couple pictures. And here is the video. If you want to see Cheryl's reaction, and not the gross tooth wiggling, then skip forward to about 10 seconds from the end. Since this was a "birthday tooth" Zoe actually got a present from the Tooth Fairy, as well as some more cash. Second, it was the roller skating party day for her school. I took her out to the Palace where her and Olivia cut up the track. It was great to see Zoe cautiously taking her time juxtaposed with Olivia who sacrificed stability for speed. Third, she got to open her gifts, which included a New Nintendo 3DS XL, as well as a number of other things. Also, Mimi stopped by with all of her gifts, too! So, even th

Pre-Birthday Catch Up

There is, generally speaking, always something going on and let's just say that I do not excel at keeping blog posts up to date. That being said, since Zoe's birthday is tomorrow, here are some of the things, both great and small, that Zoe has been doing. She went to Nattai's birthday party and the karate dojo right around the corner from our house. There she learned how to kick, run obstacle relay races, and, most importantly, how to fight with a foam light saber. After that we took a trip to help Mimi with her computer. Turns out that whatever she did was well beyond my capabilities. So we loaded in to the car and took a trip to Best Buy to get Mimi a new computer. While we were waiting, Zoe tested out her artistic ability on one of the floor models. On our way to the creek one day, neither of us were paying close attention, and we startled some deer on the bridge, who, in turn, startled us. I got a quick picture of her waving to the deer just beyond the bridge
