First Time Snowtubing

Over the weekend, we all packed in to the car and headed north to Blue Mountain to do some snowtubing. Zoe has never been, and Cheryl was incredibly scared the one time the two of us went, so I was cautiously optimistic that we would all have a good time. Bundled in our layers, we made our way to grab a family tube and head up the hill.

We eventually made our way down the mountain and, I'm just not sure Zoe really enjoyed herself. What do you think?

I was also able to take some video of a couple trips down the hill. Again, I'm still on the fence as to whether or not Zoe really enjoyed it. Do you think she had any fun?

After a number of runs down the hill in the family tube, we decided to make our way over to the single tubes. I'm not certain that the hill was bigger on the individual tube side, but it certainly seemed that way the first time I went down. And our big girl went down all by herself!

Overall, the day was a huge success. Everyone had a great time, even if Zoe got a little scared after her first solo run down the hill. That being said, after we were done, grabbed some food and had a bathroom break, she was excited to come back and do it all over again.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. After a late lunch, we decided to make our way home. As we were about to cross the river, we passed Castle San Angelo and decided to make a stop. Thi...

Italy - Day 2 - Rome

Waking up in Rome to the sound of industrial work, we decided that today we would focus on Villa Borghese and all it has to offer, primarily a row boat rental. On the way there we passed by Piazza del Popolo where we took a few pictures. Zoe grabbed a phone and snapped a few for us, too! Once in the park we made a beeline for the boat rental. Along that line there were fountains and flowers we had never seen before, so we stopped for a quick look. My favorite is Zoe taking her own selfies. She makes such wonderful faces. Making our way through all of the distractions, we found the lake that surrounds the Temple of Asclepius and rented a boat. We all hopped in and I rowed us out into the water, but it wasn't long before Zoe insisted that she could paddle the boat, so we swapped spots and the cutest boat captain took over. Now this is very important because if you ask Zoe or Cheryl they're going to tell you a completely different story. At one point in our ...
