Work work work

So last Thursday I came back to work. It hasn't been hard getting back into the swing of things. We're really busy so there is always plenty to do; however, it has been hard leaving every morning. It was nice to spend the days with my two favorite ladies, and I know that there will be plenty of time to spend with them, I just miss them. Thankfully, I have some pictures at my cluttered desk to remind me of what I have to look forward to when I get home.

Well, time to get back to work.

Riding Together for the First Time

Today my bike was finally fixed, so I picked it up from the shop before picking Zoe up from Science Club. When she saw my bike she was very excited to go for a ride. It was overcast all day, but the weather held out and it was a beautiful evening, so we rushed home, she finished all her homework, and I loaded her bike onto the car. I packed a bag with some water and a couple snacks and we made our way to Lorimer Park. Before we took off down the trail, I wanted to take a selfie, but I was so excited that I forgot my helmet, so there are two selfies. As soon as I finished the picture she took off down the path. Fortunately I was able to catch up, phone in hand, to take a few pictures as we cruised down the trail. I am a mostly competent bike rider, but trying to pay attention to her, and the trail, and keep myself upright while holding my phone was tricky. So, I decided to take some video where, for the most part, I could rest my hand on the handlebars. She is so good a...

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Italy - Day 3 - Rome

We did not schedule our industrial maintenance alarm for today, so we didn't wake up until 11 am! Getting off to such a late start, we needed some serious breakfast to hit the ground running. We decided to head south from our apartment, stopping along the way at Emma. The breakfast pizza was delicious, even if Zoe wasn't too thrilled with our choices. After pizza brunch our first stop was the cat sanctuary. Located among the ruins where Julius Caesar was murdered, we saw a number of cats including what we all determined was the Italian version of Peanut! Zoe really wanted to take one home, but the whole place was making Cheryl a little itchy, so we left without a new pet. From there we began to make our way to the Pantheon; however, we ran into a bit of a snag. Someone spied macaroons across the way, so we had to make a pit stop and get a half dozen. Snacks in belly, we continued on to the Pantheon. We came up to it from the backside, which is a huge, round, ex...
