Annabelle's First Birthday

Yesterday I mentioned to Cheryl that I would really like to try feeding Zoe some "real" food. The main reason for this is that Zoe has been showing more and more interest when Cheryl and I are eating. Even if she wasn't really going to eat anything, I wanted her to see how it's done. So, of course, Cheryl bought some food for her to eat. This morning she mixed up some oatmeal for Zoe, which I attempted to feed her. Most of it went in her mouth and I'm pretty sure all of it came back out. This is what it looked like.

Once she was cleaned up, we made our way up to Annabelle's birthday party. It was a wonderful day and we're very grateful to be a part of it. We especially want to thank Annie's parents for opening their doors, and their pool, to us. Everyone seemed to have cameras there, which isn't any excuse, but the only picture we took while we were there was of Zoe and me with George and his son George and John with Annabelle. This was the best of the bunch.

So that was our Sunday. Don't forget, Zoe's set on Flickr has all of these pictures, and more.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Riding Together for the First Time

Today my bike was finally fixed, so I picked it up from the shop before picking Zoe up from Science Club. When she saw my bike she was very excited to go for a ride. It was overcast all day, but the weather held out and it was a beautiful evening, so we rushed home, she finished all her homework, and I loaded her bike onto the car. I packed a bag with some water and a couple snacks and we made our way to Lorimer Park. Before we took off down the trail, I wanted to take a selfie, but I was so excited that I forgot my helmet, so there are two selfies. As soon as I finished the picture she took off down the path. Fortunately I was able to catch up, phone in hand, to take a few pictures as we cruised down the trail. I am a mostly competent bike rider, but trying to pay attention to her, and the trail, and keep myself upright while holding my phone was tricky. So, I decided to take some video where, for the most part, I could rest my hand on the handlebars. She is so good a...

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. After a late lunch, we decided to make our way home. As we were about to cross the river, we passed Castle San Angelo and decided to make a stop. Thi...
