Seattle - Fremont

We flew out of Philadelphia yesterday to visit the Carusos in Seattle. It was great to finally see where John, Annie and Annabelle live, but it was even better that they already had everything we needed waiting for us since Annabelle is 14 months old. Zoe was incredibly good on the flight. She slept for just over half of the time and only fussed a little bit. Take off and landing didn't seem to bother her much at all, which is great because Cheryl and I plan on doing as much traveling with her as possible. Before we set out for the day, we made sure to eat a hearty breakfast. As always, Zoe enjoyed the solid foods the most.

Once everyone ate, we loaded up in the car and took a drive out to Fremont. We took in some of the sites and had a nice lunch. Zoe took a little nap on Cheryl once we made it to Gas Works Park. Here are some of the pictures.

When we got back home, Zoe and Annabelle hung out for a bit on the couch with John. They didn't do much interacting this first day together, but at least no fights broke out. In fact, in the one picture, it actually looks like both John and Zoe are tickling Annabelle.

So that was our first full day in Seattle. You can find all of these pictures and more in Zoe's set on Flickr.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. After a late lunch, we decided to make our way home. As we were about to cross the river, we passed Castle San Angelo and decided to make a stop. Thi...

Italy - Day 2 - Rome

Waking up in Rome to the sound of industrial work, we decided that today we would focus on Villa Borghese and all it has to offer, primarily a row boat rental. On the way there we passed by Piazza del Popolo where we took a few pictures. Zoe grabbed a phone and snapped a few for us, too! Once in the park we made a beeline for the boat rental. Along that line there were fountains and flowers we had never seen before, so we stopped for a quick look. My favorite is Zoe taking her own selfies. She makes such wonderful faces. Making our way through all of the distractions, we found the lake that surrounds the Temple of Asclepius and rented a boat. We all hopped in and I rowed us out into the water, but it wasn't long before Zoe insisted that she could paddle the boat, so we swapped spots and the cutest boat captain took over. Now this is very important because if you ask Zoe or Cheryl they're going to tell you a completely different story. At one point in our ...
