Deadlifts And Bike Rides

Zoe has really grown to love her rocking unicorn. She'll get on that thing, make him sing and then rock back and forth so hard that I think she's going to throw herself off. When she wants to play with it, she grabs one of the handles and drags him out. So you can imagine my surprise when I asked her to put him away and she picked him up to put him back.

That was the first time I had ever seen her do that, but the second wasn't far behind as she decided she wanted to bring him back out to play.

After that we decided to go to Clark Park by way of Honest Tom's and CVS. We were going to Tom's to get some breakfast tacos and we were stopping by CVS to pick up diapers and wipes because I forgot to grab her diaper bag. She enjoyed the tacos and (thankfully) didn't need the diapers or wipes until we got home.

The most exciting thing that Zoe did today was take her first bike ride with daddy. Unfortunately it was far too dangerous for me to try and hold a camera while I pedaled the two of us down the West Philly streets, but thankfully for her second ride Cheryl was home and took some pictures for us.

We borrowed the seat from a couple in the neighborhood because I was worried that Zoe would scream and hate it, but, it turns out she's actually a fan of the bike ride. Her helmet is a little big, so we need to get a smaller one before her next ride, but I can't wait to take her out again. Zoe also had her first shower today which she was also fairly enthusiastic about. She wasn't as slippery as I thought she would be and you can thank me for not having a waterproof camera.

Also, unlike every other post, don't bother going to Flickr because all of the pictures are right here. Enjoy!

Italy - Day 8 - Florence

We only had one full day in Florence, so we wanted to make the most of it. Getting up at a reasonable hour, we made our way down to the market for some breakfast. There were lots of baked goods, a truffle omelette sandwich, and plenty of fruit for Zoe, all of it fresh and delicious. Fueled up and good to go, we made our way to the first stop on our list, Giotto's Bell Tower. On the way we saw some street art, bought Zoe a new hat, and Zoe mailed out one of her first postcards. Arriving in the square, there were hundreds of people packed around the bell tower. No matter how far away I stood, I couldn't get the entire structure in frame, but it was awesome to see up close. We continued our trek south past the carousel towards the bronze boar. People were lined up to take pictures, rub it's snout and drop some money into the fountain for luck. Once our pictures were taken and our luck secured, we made our way through the leather vendors to check out some more bui

A Couple Of Visits

This past weekend the Carusos flew home on Friday. John and Annabelle took a later flight and actually spent Friday evening with us here at casa de Shelreno. It wasn't a long stay, but it is always nice to see my goddaughter. Her and Zoe had fun playing with the grill and then enjoyed a lovely breakfast together the following morning. You can tell they're good friends by the goofy faces they make together. On Sunday, I packed Zoe up in the car to take a trip up to Langhorne to visit with Mimi and Joe Pop. We went with Mimi to a nearby park. Apart from smacking her head right into the side of a picnic table, she learned to drive some cars. She already seems to have a little road rage. After that we went back to the house to ice her head... er... I mean, so she could take a nap. She was super tired, but when she woke up she was full of energy. Joe Pop was home and he showed her around the animals in his room, including the dogs. I think she was a little excited to see

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. After a late lunch, we decided to make our way home. As we were about to cross the river, we passed Castle San Angelo and decided to make a stop. Thi
