Girls Night Out Dance

Zoe has her first dance at school, the Girls Night Out Dance, where she brought me as her date. It had been quite some time since I was at such a formal affair, but thankfully I was still able to squeeze in to my suit. Zoe looked as gorgeous as her mother with her fancy clothes, her makeup, and the big bow in her hair. We took a few pictures before we left for the dance, just to capture the moment.

I drove us over to the school, and we arrived right on time, beating the crowd. A few of Zoe's friends were there, and before they turned the lights off, I took one, not-so-good, picture.

It is nice to know that, as time goes by, some things never change. There was very little dancing for the two of us at the dance. She was very interested in the snacks (treats), the lights that were on the tables, but mostly in the pull up bar at the back of the gym. She spent a solid 15 minutes moving around gym mats so she could stand on them and hang from the bar. Other kids came and went, but still she hung there.

With over 30 minutes left to go, she called it a night and was ready to head home. It was a wonderful experience. I can't wait to do it again next year and see what equipment she gravitates to.

Italy - Day 8 - Florence

We only had one full day in Florence, so we wanted to make the most of it. Getting up at a reasonable hour, we made our way down to the market for some breakfast. There were lots of baked goods, a truffle omelette sandwich, and plenty of fruit for Zoe, all of it fresh and delicious. Fueled up and good to go, we made our way to the first stop on our list, Giotto's Bell Tower. On the way we saw some street art, bought Zoe a new hat, and Zoe mailed out one of her first postcards. Arriving in the square, there were hundreds of people packed around the bell tower. No matter how far away I stood, I couldn't get the entire structure in frame, but it was awesome to see up close. We continued our trek south past the carousel towards the bronze boar. People were lined up to take pictures, rub it's snout and drop some money into the fountain for luck. Once our pictures were taken and our luck secured, we made our way through the leather vendors to check out some more bui

A Couple Of Visits

This past weekend the Carusos flew home on Friday. John and Annabelle took a later flight and actually spent Friday evening with us here at casa de Shelreno. It wasn't a long stay, but it is always nice to see my goddaughter. Her and Zoe had fun playing with the grill and then enjoyed a lovely breakfast together the following morning. You can tell they're good friends by the goofy faces they make together. On Sunday, I packed Zoe up in the car to take a trip up to Langhorne to visit with Mimi and Joe Pop. We went with Mimi to a nearby park. Apart from smacking her head right into the side of a picnic table, she learned to drive some cars. She already seems to have a little road rage. After that we went back to the house to ice her head... er... I mean, so she could take a nap. She was super tired, but when she woke up she was full of energy. Joe Pop was home and he showed her around the animals in his room, including the dogs. I think she was a little excited to see

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. After a late lunch, we decided to make our way home. As we were about to cross the river, we passed Castle San Angelo and decided to make a stop. Thi
