Working with Zoe

After the comic book convention, Zoe needed a bath. She seems to actually really enjoy her time in the whale tub, so I like to take some pictures. Here's one that shows how much she enjoys it and two that, out of context, look like she might not like it so much.

It is pretty obvious when daddy dresses her. Mainly because she looks so awesome, but also because there is a hint of nerd in everything. Here Zoe is wearing her D&D character sheet onesie, lovingly provided by the Strouts. She wore that up to the burbs where I purchased my comics and began to document some family history by interviewing one of Zoe's great grandmothers. I'm really looking forward to doing even more of that.

For the next several weeks, along with being off on Mondays, I work from home on Wednesdays. This is part of what is allowing Cheryl and I to keep Zoe out of daycare until she's a little older. Here, you can see what things Zoe does while daddy is getting his work done.

You can find these and other pictures in Zoe's set on Flickr. I have some videos that will be uploaded there as well.

  1. For the record I wasn't poking my baby's eyes out. She prefers her face be washed by hand.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Riding Together for the First Time

Today my bike was finally fixed, so I picked it up from the shop before picking Zoe up from Science Club. When she saw my bike she was very excited to go for a ride. It was overcast all day, but the weather held out and it was a beautiful evening, so we rushed home, she finished all her homework, and I loaded her bike onto the car. I packed a bag with some water and a couple snacks and we made our way to Lorimer Park. Before we took off down the trail, I wanted to take a selfie, but I was so excited that I forgot my helmet, so there are two selfies. As soon as I finished the picture she took off down the path. Fortunately I was able to catch up, phone in hand, to take a few pictures as we cruised down the trail. I am a mostly competent bike rider, but trying to pay attention to her, and the trail, and keep myself upright while holding my phone was tricky. So, I decided to take some video where, for the most part, I could rest my hand on the handlebars. She is so good a...

Baby Shower

Today the family was headed to George and Amanda's baby shower. Before we even got ready, I was playing with Zoe in bed. She was just sitting on my stomach, staring at her feet and drooling. Here are a few pictures. After play time, we had to get ready to head out. Zoe wore a nice dress, even if it was a little big on her. I took a picture of her in it before we left, then a bunch more of her while we were outside. Take a look and Zoe and Cheryl together. They're so cute! Those two are so gorgeous on their own that they become simply stunning when put together. I just can't get enough. Anyway, if you take a look at all of these, and more, in Zoe's set on Flickr, you can see all of the detail in the drool. It's really quite amazing.
