6 Months Ago Today

Zoe turned 6 months old today. Like I have said before, it is hard to believe that so much time has passed. As Cheryl and I have said to one another on many occasions, the time seems to have flown by, but it took forever. So after a visit from Uncle Joe this morning, the family went to meet Orly for lunch. While we were there, we took some pictures on Zoe's first half birthday. She seemed to enjoy herself.

For anyone who has seen Zoe with inanimate objects, she has a 2 phase plan for dealing with all of them. Phase 1 - Grab the object. Phase 2 - Pu that object in her mouth. Well, when the bread came, I took a roll and held it in my hand. She would only gently caress it let alone pick it up and put it in her mouth. So I set it on the table to see if there would be a different reaction, but I just got more of the same. Here she is, just hovering her hand over the roll.

After that, we made a trip to Gigi's to see Lilly. We arrived just in time to join them for her first walk. She is so little and precious.

When we finally got home we decided to take a quick walk to Clark Park. The day was beautiful and there was still some light left to get a few more pictures before Zoe's half birthday ended.

Overall, it was a fantastic day. Just like every other time, you can check out Zoe's set on Flickr to see all of these pictures, and more.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Meet the Flintstones?!?

Cheryl wanted me to share the following with everyone. These are her words, not mine. Frankly, I know I'm the lucky one. So obviously the blog is Michael's thing, which is great really because if it were up to me it would have started and ended with 99 days left! But I wanted to make a post so I could thank Michael for everything he has done for me throughout this pregnancy and most of all during delivery. There is no question that being with Michael is the smartest thing I've ever done and Zoe is lucky to call him Dad. The reason we had a planned c-section was that Zoe was 'unstable lie'. In the 4 weeks before she was due she was breech, head down, breech, and then head down again. As it was explained to us, this is pretty rare. They expected that even if she was in the right position when I went into labor, she would turn during contractions creating a dangerous situation for all of us. The day of surgery I was still pretty calm. Once I was prepp...

Florida or Bust

Last week we all flew down to Florida to visit with Nana and Poppy. We didn't take off until Zoe had a nice helping of scrambled eggs from the airport. She loves scrambled eggs! This wasn't Zoe's first flight and she was a dream. She slept for more than half of the flight there. Once we were down there,we did our best to take advantage of the weather. Back in Philadelphia the high was in the mid-40's and it was going to snow, but in Hudson it was in the 70's. We took plenty of walks in the neighborhood. Zoe was also enjoying Nana's large tub. She really loves the water. During our visit we took an outing to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park . I found this place online because they have a live mermaid show. Along with that there were peacocks, an animal show and a river boat ride. Zoe seemed to enjoy it all. There is a heated pool in Nana and Poppy's community, which I was anxious to take Zoe to. She's never really been in a pool bef...
