Three Cousins In Sea Isle

This weekend my brothers and I all met down in Sea Isle City with our families to hang out for the weekend. Everyone went down on Friday night except for us because Zoe had her first gymnastics class at 9:00am on Saturday morning. It was a good thing we didn't skip it because she loved it. I took a couple of pictures with my cell phone of her hanging on the bars.

Right after class, we had the car loaded up and hit the road. We made it down to Sea Isle just after 11am. Once we got down there, Zoe needed a nap, and, apparently, so did her uncles because they were sleeping too. After everyone got up, the kids hung out for a little while in the house.

Now that everyone was nice and awake, we packed up a whole bunch of stuff, along with the kids, and headed over to the beach. The kids seemed to really enjoy the beach. There was sand, water and birds for everyone.

There was even some off-road driving, which everyone enjoyed.

At one point, Uncles Joe and Andy decided to start building a sand castle. Zoe wanted to make sure that they did it right, so she jumped right in to "help".

Of course, with Zoe's oversight, the castle became a throne for her royal highness. She said that it was comfortable, but a bit gritty and thought it could use some water.

After all of that hard work, it was time to relax. There's no better way to do that then chasing birds. Then, after you're relaxed, you feed the birds.

When feeding birds, Zoe recommends turning to the side. This way, you present a smaller target. Either way, all of the babies loved being held by their mothers while they were at the beach.

The next morning we went to the park. Zoe is still terrified of the swings, even though Harlie showed her how fun they are. She did swing with her mother and laughed at the big kids.

Later that day, Zoe's uncles, aunts and cousins rented a big bike and took a ride. Since Zoe hates being seated, and there was no room, we opted to skip the ride. Apparently it was a bit taxing on some of the peddlers.

While the house was being cleaned up, I used taking pictures of the kids as an excuse to get out of doing my fair share of the work. Honestly through, I'm far better with a camera than I am with a vacuum. Just look at these gems.

That Uncle Andy, he's such a good influence. Needless to say, everyone had a good time over the weekend. Next summer Zoe is definitely going into the ocean. Now there are 34 pictures here from the beach; however, there are 83 split among Zoe's, Harlie's and Hank's sets on Flickr. You'd be a fool not to check that out.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. After a late lunch, we decided to make our way home. As we were about to cross the river, we passed Castle San Angelo and decided to make a stop. Thi...

Italy - Day 2 - Rome

Waking up in Rome to the sound of industrial work, we decided that today we would focus on Villa Borghese and all it has to offer, primarily a row boat rental. On the way there we passed by Piazza del Popolo where we took a few pictures. Zoe grabbed a phone and snapped a few for us, too! Once in the park we made a beeline for the boat rental. Along that line there were fountains and flowers we had never seen before, so we stopped for a quick look. My favorite is Zoe taking her own selfies. She makes such wonderful faces. Making our way through all of the distractions, we found the lake that surrounds the Temple of Asclepius and rented a boat. We all hopped in and I rowed us out into the water, but it wasn't long before Zoe insisted that she could paddle the boat, so we swapped spots and the cutest boat captain took over. Now this is very important because if you ask Zoe or Cheryl they're going to tell you a completely different story. At one point in our ...
