Johnson's Corner Farm

This weekend we took a ride across the river in to good old Jersey to visit Johnson's Corner Farm. Cheryl had taken Zoe there once before with the twins, but this was my first visit. It is pretty impressive and there are lots of things to do there. You do have to pay to get in to the really fun stuff, but it was well worth the price of admission. Zoe got to play her first game of tether ball.

I totally won, but that's only due to my 3 foot advantage. We then moved on to play in their massive sand box areas, that had all sorts of tools and toys to use.

Zoe loves sand. Next to that there are 4 different play stations. One is a produce market with different bins of fruits and vegetables along with a cash register. Another is a work area, with all sorts of tools. There is a kitchen area, with a grill, an oven and some processed meats. The last one is a veterinary area, with stuffed animals and all sorts of doctor equipment.

That face she's making while Cheryl is listening to the dog's heart, that the same face she makes when she's at the doctor and he listens to her heart. Inside the pay area there is also a track with some pedal tractors. I rode one and it was pretty awesome. There is also a little splash area, but it was too cold to get wet.

As part of a free visit, you can go over and see the animals. There are little candy vending machine that dispense corn and you can feed the animals through PVC tubes. Zoe really likes feeding the animals, and is always curious about what their food tastes like.

There is also a couple of large, bumpy tubes that act as slides. Zoe was hesitant at first to go down them, but once she realized what they were, she couldn't run back to the top fast enough.

Needless to say, this is a very fun place. We purchased a pass for the season and plan to get there whenever we can. Since it is only a half hour away, hopefully that will be often. You can check out the Johnson's Corner Farm album on Flickr to see all of the pictures.

Italy - Day 8 - Florence

We only had one full day in Florence, so we wanted to make the most of it. Getting up at a reasonable hour, we made our way down to the market for some breakfast. There were lots of baked goods, a truffle omelette sandwich, and plenty of fruit for Zoe, all of it fresh and delicious. Fueled up and good to go, we made our way to the first stop on our list, Giotto's Bell Tower. On the way we saw some street art, bought Zoe a new hat, and Zoe mailed out one of her first postcards. Arriving in the square, there were hundreds of people packed around the bell tower. No matter how far away I stood, I couldn't get the entire structure in frame, but it was awesome to see up close. We continued our trek south past the carousel towards the bronze boar. People were lined up to take pictures, rub it's snout and drop some money into the fountain for luck. Once our pictures were taken and our luck secured, we made our way through the leather vendors to check out some more bui

A Couple Of Visits

This past weekend the Carusos flew home on Friday. John and Annabelle took a later flight and actually spent Friday evening with us here at casa de Shelreno. It wasn't a long stay, but it is always nice to see my goddaughter. Her and Zoe had fun playing with the grill and then enjoyed a lovely breakfast together the following morning. You can tell they're good friends by the goofy faces they make together. On Sunday, I packed Zoe up in the car to take a trip up to Langhorne to visit with Mimi and Joe Pop. We went with Mimi to a nearby park. Apart from smacking her head right into the side of a picnic table, she learned to drive some cars. She already seems to have a little road rage. After that we went back to the house to ice her head... er... I mean, so she could take a nap. She was super tired, but when she woke up she was full of energy. Joe Pop was home and he showed her around the animals in his room, including the dogs. I think she was a little excited to see

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. After a late lunch, we decided to make our way home. As we were about to cross the river, we passed Castle San Angelo and decided to make a stop. Thi
