Sea Isle City - Take 2

We went down to Sea Isle for our second week of vacation and it was just as good as the first one, but it didn't start off that well. In order to get an early start to the week, we drove down on Sunday afternoon. Arriving while the sun was still up, I decided to take Zoe to the beach with her new kite. One thing lead to another and I was standing in the ocean, up to my knees, holding Zoe in a diaper in one hand and her kite and clothes in the other. In this vulnerable position she reached up, snatched my glasses from my face and threw them in to the ocean. After much crying and pouting, the next morning I got an eye exam and a new pair of glasses.

After all of that, we had a great time playing at the park. It's great to have such a nice playground just a few blocks from the house. While she loves climbing up the little rock wall and sliding down the slides, her favorite, by far, is the swings, which she likes to ride both regular and silly style.

Shoobie's, which is a diner in town, has a number of theme meals for children. One of them was dinner with Anna and Elsa from Frozen. Zoe literally squealed with excitement when she saw the two of them coming in from the rain.

Of course, as you can see, once they were actually in the room and came over to our table to speak with us, Zoe clammed up. She still posed for a picture, kind of, after she was bribed with a lollipop. After that, as per usual, we made our way to Yum Yum for some ice cream. Zoe was a pro at eating everyone's ice cream but her own.

We also took some time to rent a surrey and ride it up and down the promenade. It is amazing how difficult it is to pedal one of those things by yourself when two adorable freeloaders are riding with you.

After going to Wildwood the last time we were down the shore, we decided to try a more relaxed boardwalk. Ocean City was great. There weren't as many boardwalk games, but there were lots of rides and most of them were great for little kids. We were able to get a few good pictures.

When I went to get my new glasses, we made our way past Storybook Land. After a little research and some planning, we took a day to check out this miniature Disney World in New Jersey. It was a great place with lots of rides.

And yes, that is Cheryl and Zoe taking Zoe's first roller coaster ride. When we did make it to the beach, Zoe would come back to the house and want to rinse off. She would do this outside, after stripping off her suit. You have to understand, she hates getting water in her face at home, but apparently does not mind if it is done right out in public.

That last one there is part of one of the new things she does. She'll say, "Now do a bear," and then hold her hands up and growl. It's funny because she'll also say, "Now do a lion," which is the same exact motions as the bear.

So that was our trip. It was awesome and you would be a fool to not check out the set on Flickr with even more great pictures, including this little gem.

Paris - Day Five: Louvre, More Gardens, Photobooths, Macaroons, Love

Today was scheduled to be a somewhat random day. We didn't have anything specific we were planning to do, meaning no pre-purchased tickets, but a number of stops to make and things to see. The first stop on our list for the day was a photobooth that was out near Moulin Rouge. It was in a giant, open gallery space where there were people dancing and vendors selling food. We found the booth and took a few pictures. Right near the booth there was an old trailer of some sort that was converted in to a little library. Since Zoe loves books, even if they're in a language she doesn't read, she went in and browsed the selection. She then said she'd like one of these for our house back home. We'll see what we can do. She didn't actually take the book with us, but she wanted to pose with it. At this point it was time to get something to eat, so we hopped on the Metro and took it to Cafe des 2 Moulins, the restaurant from the movie Amelie. The food was great, the...

Girls Night Out Dance

Zoe has her first dance at school, the Girls Night Out Dance, where she brought me as her date. It had been quite some time since I was at such a formal affair, but thankfully I was still able to squeeze in to my suit. Zoe looked as gorgeous as her mother with her fancy clothes, her makeup, and the big bow in her hair. We took a few pictures before we left for the dance, just to capture the moment. I drove us over to the school, and we arrived right on time, beating the crowd. A few of Zoe's friends were there, and before they turned the lights off, I took one, not-so-good, picture. It is nice to know that, as time goes by, some things never change. There was very little dancing for the two of us at the dance. She was very interested in the snacks (treats), the lights that were on the tables, but mostly in the pull up bar at the back of the gym. She spent a solid 15 minutes moving around gym mats so she could stand on them and hang from the bar. Other kids came and went,...

Paris - Day One: Airline Trouble, Eiffel Tower, Metro

We woke up Monday morning to find out that our flight from Newark to Paris had been cancelled, but we were rebooked to fly out the next day on the same flight. Cheryl worked her magic and we transferred to a new flight out of JFK, through London, to Paris with a minimal delay in the timing. With that out of the way, we packed in to the car, made it to JFK and waited for our plane to take off. Fortunately there was plenty of entertainment in the airport, and some sleep on the plane. Unfortunately, when we finally got to Paris, Zoe's bag was missing. Apparently it didn't make the connection. She took the news fairly well. The airline personnel assured us that the bag was on its way and would be delivered to us by 2, 3 at the latest. With that we hopped in a cab to our apartment, which was located in the 10th Arrondissement of Paris. Since it was now Tuesday, thanks to the time change and length of the flight, we wanted to make the most of it, so we set out for the Eiffel...
