Thanksgiving 2014

This year marks Zoe's third Thanksgiving and she was super excited to get to go to Mimi's House (that's what she calls it, sorry Joe Pop). Cheryl picked out a super cute dress for her to wear and, surprisingly, she was all to happy to wear it. Before we left the house she did a little modeling for us.

Once we got there, Zoe was very excited to see her cousins. Before they got in to everything, we were able to sit them down and snap a couple of pictures in their holiday finery. The faces were pretty amazing.

There was a ton of food to eat and, as per her usual, Zoe didn't eat all that much. She picked here and there and certainly had her fill, but she's not a big eater of things like mashed potatoes or turkey. After the meal was done, it was time for dessert, and there were plenty of cupcakes to go around. Zoe really enjoyed hers.

Once the cupcakes were consumed and the faces were wiped, it was time to play. The girls all got along very well, but they were super excited when Joe Pop brought in the wagon. He had planned on pulling them around in the backyard, but the weather was not cooperative. They didn't seem to mind being inside.

Needless to say, it was a long, fun evening. You'd be a fool if you don't take a look at the Thanksgiving set on Flickr because there are a lot more pictures, and most of them are super cute.

Italy - Day 8 - Florence

We only had one full day in Florence, so we wanted to make the most of it. Getting up at a reasonable hour, we made our way down to the market for some breakfast. There were lots of baked goods, a truffle omelette sandwich, and plenty of fruit for Zoe, all of it fresh and delicious. Fueled up and good to go, we made our way to the first stop on our list, Giotto's Bell Tower. On the way we saw some street art, bought Zoe a new hat, and Zoe mailed out one of her first postcards. Arriving in the square, there were hundreds of people packed around the bell tower. No matter how far away I stood, I couldn't get the entire structure in frame, but it was awesome to see up close. We continued our trek south past the carousel towards the bronze boar. People were lined up to take pictures, rub it's snout and drop some money into the fountain for luck. A Couple Of Visits

This past weekend the Carusos flew home on Friday. John and Annabelle took a later flight and actually spent Friday evening with us here at casa de Shelreno. It wasn't a long stay, but it is always nice to see my goddaughter. Her and Zoe had fun playing with the grill and then enjoyed a lovely breakfast together the following morning. You can tell they're good friends by the goofy faces they make together. On Sunday, I packed Zoe up in the car to take a trip up to Langhorne to visit with Mimi and Joe Pop. We went with Mimi to a nearby park. Apart from smacking her head right into the side of a picnic table, she learned to drive some cars. She already seems to have a little road rage. After that we went back to the house to ice her head... er... I mean, so she could take a nap. She was super tired, but when she woke up she was full of energy. Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat.
