Thanksgiving 2014

This year marks Zoe's third Thanksgiving and she was super excited to get to go to Mimi's House (that's what she calls it, sorry Joe Pop). Cheryl picked out a super cute dress for her to wear and, surprisingly, she was all to happy to wear it. Before we left the house she did a little modeling for us.

Once we got there, Zoe was very excited to see her cousins. Before they got in to everything, we were able to sit them down and snap a couple of pictures in their holiday finery. The faces were pretty amazing.

There was a ton of food to eat and, as per her usual, Zoe didn't eat all that much. She picked here and there and certainly had her fill, but she's not a big eater of things like mashed potatoes or turkey. After the meal was done, it was time for dessert, and there were plenty of cupcakes to go around. Zoe really enjoyed hers.

Once the cupcakes were consumed and the faces were wiped, it was time to play. The girls all got along very well, but they were super excited when Joe Pop brought in the wagon. He had planned on pulling them around in the backyard, but the weather was not cooperative. They didn't seem to mind being inside.

Needless to say, it was a long, fun evening. You'd be a fool if you don't take a look at the Thanksgiving set on Flickr because there are a lot more pictures, and most of them are super cute.

Henry "Hank" Andrew Shelmet

Weighing in at 6 lbs. 15 ozs and measuring 20 inches long, Henry "Hank" Andrew Shelmet was born. Now Zoe has two cousins, a boy and a girl, that I hope will be like best friends as they grow up. Before we left for the day, Cheryl and I tried to take some more 6 month pictures of Zoe. As she gets older, she becomes more mobile, which equates to being far more difficult to photograph. With the aid of her stuffed duck, we were able to get a few good shots from her. After that, we packed up into the car to head up to see Hank. Zoe had the chance to check out both of her cousins, as well as a number of other folks. Of course, it all ended with a nap on mom. So many new babies this weekend! Needless to say, Zoe was very tired and we're all happy that she'll be home with the nanny starting this week. As always, Zoe's set has all of these pictures and more.

New York City Holiday

This year we decided to head up to New York City on Thanksgiving weekend to see the tree, stop at the American Girl Doll store, and find out what else we could do on an overnight trip. We drove up to Newark and parked outside of Penn Station. From there we rode the PATH to 33rd Street and went to our first destination, American Girl Doll Store! This place had everything from a salon where both the dolls and their owners could get their hair done, to a little recording stand, to every doll and accessory you could want. Zoe really enjoyed it. After she picked out a relatively modest amount of stuff, we then made our way to our hotel, which was only a few blocks away. There was a lot to see on the way, so we stopped by a Christmas tree before heading up to our room on the 23rd floor. After laying around for a bit we decided not to waste the daylight and went back out. We went past the tree, which we learned would not be lit until Wednesday. I'm assuming the police officer ...

Mommy or Daddy?

While looking at old photos of Cheryl and me, we came across some where it was fairly clear to see where Zoe got her looks from; however, I'll leave it up to you to decide which one of us most resembled Zoe. You can start with Cheryl. Now I know that they have similar hair and they both drove the same car, but don't count me out just yet. Take a look. Did you see the one where it looks like I'm wearing a yellow dress? Now, I'm not sure what's up with that, but doesn't it look like Zoe and that very strangely dressed boy could be twins? And that last picture doesn't look anything like Zoe. That was just me when I was practicing to be a doctor by giving Ernie a routine checkup... he didn't make it.
