Zoe Turns 3!

This past weekend was Zoe's third birthday party. We decided to hold it at Bounce U in Langhorne because if there is anything Zoe loves, it's jumping around like a lunatic. A bunch of her friends and family were invited and she had such a great time. She got to sit in the Bounce U throne and Joe Pop was there to sit with her.

When we first walked in to the room, all of the motors used to keep the bouncing equipment inflated were very loud and it looked like Zoe wasn't going to have a very happy birthday after all. Thankfully, while she was upset, she saw her friends run in and start playing, and all of a sudden the noise wasn't so bad any more. The first thing she enjoyed was a large round area that had a giant red ball on a rope. She would swing it out, brace herself, let it smack her in the face, then fall to the ground laughing.

Everyone had a great time running around and playing, including most of the adults. I know that I certainly had just as much fun as the kids.

Once all the bouncing was over, it was time to have some pizza, some cake and open a few presents. Of course Zoe doesn't eat pizza, but she does love cake. She was also really great about allowing others to help her open her presents.

It was a lot of fun and before we knew it, it was time to go home. Zoe wasn't stingy when it came to saying goodbye with hugs and kisses.

Thanks to everyone who helped make it a very special day for Zoe. There are a bunch of other pictures in the Third Birthday set on Flickr. Oh, and before I forget to mention it, Ben did get to keep the balloon.

Meet the Flintstones?!?

Cheryl wanted me to share the following with everyone. These are her words, not mine. Frankly, I know I'm the lucky one. So obviously the blog is Michael's thing, which is great really because if it were up to me it would have started and ended with 99 days left! But I wanted to make a post so I could thank Michael for everything he has done for me throughout this pregnancy and most of all during delivery. There is no question that being with Michael is the smartest thing I've ever done and Zoe is lucky to call him Dad. The reason we had a planned c-section was that Zoe was 'unstable lie'. In the 4 weeks before she was due she was breech, head down, breech, and then head down again. As it was explained to us, this is pretty rare. They expected that even if she was in the right position when I went into labor, she would turn during contractions creating a dangerous situation for all of us. The day of surgery I was still pretty calm. Once I was prepp...

Florida or Bust

Last week we all flew down to Florida to visit with Nana and Poppy. We didn't take off until Zoe had a nice helping of scrambled eggs from the airport. She loves scrambled eggs! This wasn't Zoe's first flight and she was a dream. She slept for more than half of the flight there. Once we were down there,we did our best to take advantage of the weather. Back in Philadelphia the high was in the mid-40's and it was going to snow, but in Hudson it was in the 70's. We took plenty of walks in the neighborhood. Zoe was also enjoying Nana's large tub. She really loves the water. During our visit we took an outing to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park . I found this place online because they have a live mermaid show. Along with that there were peacocks, an animal show and a river boat ride. Zoe seemed to enjoy it all. There is a heated pool in Nana and Poppy's community, which I was anxious to take Zoe to. She's never really been in a pool bef...

Race Street Pier

I heard from a colleague last week that just north of Penns Landing the city had opened up Race Street Pier. It is a really nice two level pier with a number of benches, some stadium style seating near the water and a little grassy area that will be perfect for a future picnic. Since the weather was really nice on Sunday, we decided to take a trip down there and check it out. We didn't stick around long, but we had a great time. Don't forget, you can check out Zoe's set on Flickr to see these and all other pictures. As I count down the days until Zoe and I get to spend two weeks at home, and we get constant phone calls from mom to make sure we're all right, I'm really looking forward to Cheryl's first Mother's Day. She said all she needs is a simple breakfast and to sleep in. I'll work with Zoe and see if we can't make it a little more special.
