This past weekend was opening weekend for the pool. The weather was warm, but somewhat cloudy, and the water was freezing, but that did not deter us from enjoying all that the pool has to offer. I attempted to wade slowly in to the water twice, and twice I stopped when the water reached just above my knees. In order to get over that, I used the slide to throw myself under the water, where I let out a quick shout before surfacing. Once in, the water was fine and Zoe was super excited to swim around with and without her floatation devices.
On Sunday morning I told Cheryl that she could sleep in until noon, assuming that such a thing would still be possible for her. My plan was to take Zoe over to the Philadelphia Museum of Art to show her the waterfall, the fountains, some of the paths and to possibly go in to the museum. Along with that, I packed a few slices of bread to feed any ducks or geese who might cross our path. As soon as we spied a couple of geese on the lawn, she wanted to feed them and as soon as she started feeding them, more came. There were so many that I wanted to try and take a video to show how we were being surrounded by geese. Here's what I caught.
She was fairly traumatized by this initially, but at the end of the day when I asked her if she would go back to feed the geese, she said yes, so hopefully all is well. After that we played around one of the fountains. Zoe insisted that she take her shoes off, but was very good at not actually going in to the fountain.
After some snacks and some walking around Zoe needed to use the bathroom. It was still early, but we went in to the museum and after the potty was used, I decided we would see whether or not she liked it. I'm not entirely sure she was sold on it, but, again, she listened really well when I told her we couldn't touch things and she was super happy to throw a couple of pennies in to the fountain at the cloister. When we left, we walked all the way around the building, avoiding the mass of folks on the steps doing yoga, and Zoe wearily posed for a few pictures with the statues there.
She commented that the statues on the left were brothers and the standing one was making sure that the slouched one did not fall. I found this to be a very interesting observation on her part. After that we loaded back in to the car, picked up some breakfast tacos and met Cheryl at home. It was a fun morning and I'm looking forward to going back to the museum.
