Holiday Break

During the holiday break we were doing our best to find new ways to entertain ourselves. One night was manicure night where everyone got their nails painted by Zoe. She did a wonderful job.

It was a shame that the paint didn't last because my nails have never looked better. I took Zoe to the Macy's downtown to see the light show. She thought the tree and lights were beautiful.

At one point we went to the new house where I started unpacking things. Just like a cat, Zoe wanted to climb into the empty boxes. We padded the box out with packaging material and she climbed right in, happy as a clam, relaxing in cardboard glory with her pony.

Annabelle and Baby John invited us over to make a fabulous, Frozen gingerbread house. With very little supervision the kids were able to decorate and build the house. They both really enjoyed the construction and eating of the materials.

Something went a little wrong and the decorations started to melt off of the building, but no one seemed to mind too much. All three of the kids shared a chair to watch a little television. It was super cute.

Annabelle and Zoe shared a tubby with some color pellets thrown in. Zoe really enjoyed washing all of Annabelle's hair. Overall it was a very fun visit. Can't wait to see them all again.

Meet the Flintstones?!?

Cheryl wanted me to share the following with everyone. These are her words, not mine. Frankly, I know I'm the lucky one. So obviously the blog is Michael's thing, which is great really because if it were up to me it would have started and ended with 99 days left! But I wanted to make a post so I could thank Michael for everything he has done for me throughout this pregnancy and most of all during delivery. There is no question that being with Michael is the smartest thing I've ever done and Zoe is lucky to call him Dad. The reason we had a planned c-section was that Zoe was 'unstable lie'. In the 4 weeks before she was due she was breech, head down, breech, and then head down again. As it was explained to us, this is pretty rare. They expected that even if she was in the right position when I went into labor, she would turn during contractions creating a dangerous situation for all of us. The day of surgery I was still pretty calm. Once I was prepp...

Florida or Bust

Last week we all flew down to Florida to visit with Nana and Poppy. We didn't take off until Zoe had a nice helping of scrambled eggs from the airport. She loves scrambled eggs! This wasn't Zoe's first flight and she was a dream. She slept for more than half of the flight there. Once we were down there,we did our best to take advantage of the weather. Back in Philadelphia the high was in the mid-40's and it was going to snow, but in Hudson it was in the 70's. We took plenty of walks in the neighborhood. Zoe was also enjoying Nana's large tub. She really loves the water. During our visit we took an outing to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park . I found this place online because they have a live mermaid show. Along with that there were peacocks, an animal show and a river boat ride. Zoe seemed to enjoy it all. There is a heated pool in Nana and Poppy's community, which I was anxious to take Zoe to. She's never really been in a pool bef...

Race Street Pier

I heard from a colleague last week that just north of Penns Landing the city had opened up Race Street Pier. It is a really nice two level pier with a number of benches, some stadium style seating near the water and a little grassy area that will be perfect for a future picnic. Since the weather was really nice on Sunday, we decided to take a trip down there and check it out. We didn't stick around long, but we had a great time. Don't forget, you can check out Zoe's set on Flickr to see these and all other pictures. As I count down the days until Zoe and I get to spend two weeks at home, and we get constant phone calls from mom to make sure we're all right, I'm really looking forward to Cheryl's first Mother's Day. She said all she needs is a simple breakfast and to sleep in. I'll work with Zoe and see if we can't make it a little more special.
