Academy of Natural Sciences with Snow

Zoe's daycare was closed today, so I took the day off to keep an eye on her. I decided we would go down to the Academy of Natural Sciences, not realizing that it was eventually going to start snowing. One of the first things she wanted to do was go see the butterflies.

We eventually circled back for a second look at the beautiful butterflies, but not before she went to do a little digging. With her digging tool and goggles, she went looking for dinosaur bones. She didn't find much, but she looked adorable doing it.

After the digging we took a look at a live animal show. There we saw a hawk and learned about where they live and what they eat. That's when we decided to go get some lunch. she made a bit of a goofy face, just like her father would.

Once we had eaten, we made our way upstairs to the dinosaur treadmill. This is push powered treadmill that moves a mechanical dinosaur. Zoe wanted to do this over and over again; however, she wasn't strong, or heavy, enough to get the thing moving. This meant that I had to do quick little running steps behind her on the treadmill. After that it started snowing. We watched the snow fall for a bit before we decided to head home.

Once we got home she suited up for the snow and I pulled her around the block a couple of times. She really enjoys her new tube and wanted to pull it around herself.

It was a very long day. In the end, sleep came for her brought a gorgeous end to the day.

Paris - Day Five: Louvre, More Gardens, Photobooths, Macaroons, Love

Today was scheduled to be a somewhat random day. We didn't have anything specific we were planning to do, meaning no pre-purchased tickets, but a number of stops to make and things to see. The first stop on our list for the day was a photobooth that was out near Moulin Rouge. It was in a giant, open gallery space where there were people dancing and vendors selling food. We found the booth and took a few pictures. Right near the booth there was an old trailer of some sort that was converted in to a little library. Since Zoe loves books, even if they're in a language she doesn't read, she went in and browsed the selection. She then said she'd like one of these for our house back home. We'll see what we can do. She didn't actually take the book with us, but she wanted to pose with it. At this point it was time to get something to eat, so we hopped on the Metro and took it to Cafe des 2 Moulins, the restaurant from the movie Amelie. The food was great, the...

Girls Night Out Dance

Zoe has her first dance at school, the Girls Night Out Dance, where she brought me as her date. It had been quite some time since I was at such a formal affair, but thankfully I was still able to squeeze in to my suit. Zoe looked as gorgeous as her mother with her fancy clothes, her makeup, and the big bow in her hair. We took a few pictures before we left for the dance, just to capture the moment. I drove us over to the school, and we arrived right on time, beating the crowd. A few of Zoe's friends were there, and before they turned the lights off, I took one, not-so-good, picture. It is nice to know that, as time goes by, some things never change. There was very little dancing for the two of us at the dance. She was very interested in the snacks (treats), the lights that were on the tables, but mostly in the pull up bar at the back of the gym. She spent a solid 15 minutes moving around gym mats so she could stand on them and hang from the bar. Other kids came and went,...

Paris - Day One: Airline Trouble, Eiffel Tower, Metro

We woke up Monday morning to find out that our flight from Newark to Paris had been cancelled, but we were rebooked to fly out the next day on the same flight. Cheryl worked her magic and we transferred to a new flight out of JFK, through London, to Paris with a minimal delay in the timing. With that out of the way, we packed in to the car, made it to JFK and waited for our plane to take off. Fortunately there was plenty of entertainment in the airport, and some sleep on the plane. Unfortunately, when we finally got to Paris, Zoe's bag was missing. Apparently it didn't make the connection. She took the news fairly well. The airline personnel assured us that the bag was on its way and would be delivered to us by 2, 3 at the latest. With that we hopped in a cab to our apartment, which was located in the 10th Arrondissement of Paris. Since it was now Tuesday, thanks to the time change and length of the flight, we wanted to make the most of it, so we set out for the Eiffel...
