Rydal East Play-lympics

The other day we all went over to Rydal East and played a little bit on the playground. Things were going just fine until the two competitive ones, I'll let you guess which two, decided to have a little Play Olympics. It was mostly in good fun. After the monkey bars it was on to the foot race. God bless Cheryl for running, even when she's not being chased. Like all races in our family, this one was really close, but Zoe edged her out. After that it was on to the balance obstacle, where the games came to an end. We weren't there long, but we spent some good energy and had some laughs. You can see all the pictures on Flickr . There are some great smiles in there.

Dance Recital

Today was the 23rd Annual Dance Recital for Donna's Dance Works, held at Lower Moreland High School. Zoe was in two dances on her own and one dance with me. The first was two songs, Touch the Sky from the movie Brave and Dance Like Your Daddy. There is one thing you'll notice throughout all of her performances. See if you can spot it. When her first dance was done, we had a moment to take a few pictures together. After that was the Dads and Daughters dance. This year's was set to Time of My Life from the movie Dirty Dancing. This was, by far, my favorite dance because I got the chance to be on stage with Zoe, but I feel that I could have used a lot more practice. Finally Zoe was part of a tap number set to Come Fly With Me by Frank Sinatra where all of the girls were dressed as flight attendants and the little boy was the pilot. This one definitely had the best costumes. Now did you notice the theme in the pictures? This may not be the most fair sample s...

June Fete Fair 2018

Close to our house the June Fete Fair was going on. We went last year and Zoe had a lot of fun, so we decided to go again. This time we invited Zoe's cousins to come along. Henry was able to make it and the two of them enjoyed going on a lot of the rides. First they went on the big slide and the dragon roller coaster. After those more tame rides, the two decided to go on the hang gliders. Now this seemed like a legit ride, but I don't think any of us realized just how high they would go. It must have felt like they were really flying. One of the last rides that Zoe went on was even crazier than that. It was called the Typhoon and it was a ride where a bunch of people are in seats on a platform, and that platform goes around in a circle, high in the air. I'm fairly certain this one was taller than the hang gliders. The fair was a lot of fun and Zoe has become much more brave when it comes to rides. I can't wait to see what she does when we get to the bea...

Taylor Mac and Photo Pop Philly

Cheryl was able to get us three tickets to Taylor Mac's A 24-Decade History of Popular Music at the Kimmel Center this Saturday. We did not plan to stay for the entire 12 hour duration of the show, but we wanted to go for as long as Zoe was in to it and then hang out in Center City. We started the night by going to Reading Terminal Market to get some food. Zoe picked out a simple sugar donut, while scoffing at our cream-filled confections. She truly is the least gluttonous child we know. It is amazing that even her sweet tooth has its limits. After that, it was off to the theater to watch the show. As we made our way in, she was quick to point out to Cheryl that she could see someone's butt, which will happen when you're wearing chaps. She really enjoyed the costumes and signs, and even got to hold one as the show progressed in to the 1860s. After a while we decided to head out. We made a quick stop by El Vez to pop in to the photobooth. I mean, we were already...
