June Fete Fair 2018

Close to our house the June Fete Fair was going on. We went last year and Zoe had a lot of fun, so we decided to go again. This time we invited Zoe's cousins to come along. Henry was able to make it and the two of them enjoyed going on a lot of the rides. First they went on the big slide and the dragon roller coaster.

After those more tame rides, the two decided to go on the hang gliders. Now this seemed like a legit ride, but I don't think any of us realized just how high they would go. It must have felt like they were really flying.

One of the last rides that Zoe went on was even crazier than that. It was called the Typhoon and it was a ride where a bunch of people are in seats on a platform, and that platform goes around in a circle, high in the air. I'm fairly certain this one was taller than the hang gliders.

The fair was a lot of fun and Zoe has become much more brave when it comes to rides. I can't wait to see what she does when we get to the beach. If you'd like to see more pictures, you can check out the album on Flickr to see some other shots of those rides.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Riding Together for the First Time

Today my bike was finally fixed, so I picked it up from the shop before picking Zoe up from Science Club. When she saw my bike she was very excited to go for a ride. It was overcast all day, but the weather held out and it was a beautiful evening, so we rushed home, she finished all her homework, and I loaded her bike onto the car. I packed a bag with some water and a couple snacks and we made our way to Lorimer Park. Before we took off down the trail, I wanted to take a selfie, but I was so excited that I forgot my helmet, so there are two selfies. As soon as I finished the picture she took off down the path. Fortunately I was able to catch up, phone in hand, to take a few pictures as we cruised down the trail. I am a mostly competent bike rider, but trying to pay attention to her, and the trail, and keep myself upright while holding my phone was tricky. So, I decided to take some video where, for the most part, I could rest my hand on the handlebars. She is so good a...

Visit from Nana and Poppy

To make sure she didn't forget about her parent's birthday's, Cheryl gave them their presents on the day of the baby shower. For her father, she got a nice webcam so that we could Skype with them to interact with Zoe. A few weeks ago we had done that for the first time and it actually worked out really well. So on Monday, April 2nd, Cheryl's parents came up from Florida to meet Zoe face to face for the first time. On one day Cheryl and Zoe went to Clark Park with Nana and Poppy. Later in the week Cheryl's sister Debbie came by with her daughters, Zoe's cousins, Ashlee and Taylor. Just before they left, Cheryl remembered to take a picture. Here's Zoe with her cousin Taylor. As always, you can find all of these pictures and more in Zoe's Set on Flickr.
