Happy Birthday To Me

So today was my birthday, and thanks to everyone who wished me well. It was a great day with my two gorgeous gals. We packed up early and went up to Red Bank for the day to see the sights. Along with a visit to a comic book store and a vintage arcade, I also had my first old world shave. But enough about me, you're here for Zoe. She had a wonderful time too. There was a nice park with plenty of stairs for her to climb.

Every time we're near a swing set, I try to put Zoe in it. Currently, she is not a fan of the swing and the nice blue swing at the park in Red Bank was no exception.

She is such a daredevil in all other cases, I find it funny that she really hates this. I've even tried with her on my lap with the same results. Thankfully, she's not one to hold a grudge and she was happy again once we had lunch.

On a non-birthday note, recently Zoe has been drawn to her pack and play. It has been set up in the playroom for Issac, and she requests, through outstretched arms, that we place her in there from time to time. She mostly just sits and plays by herself, or watches her shows through the mesh.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. Italy - Day 2 - Rome

Waking up in Rome to the sound of industrial work, we decided that today we would focus on Villa Borghese and all it has to offer, primarily a row boat rental. On the way there we passed by Piazza del Popolo where we took a few pictures. Zoe grabbed a phone and snapped a few for us, too! Once in the park we made a beeline for the boat rental. Along that line there were fountains and flowers we had never seen before, so we stopped for a quick look. My favorite is Zoe taking her own selfies. She makes such wonderful faces. Making our way through all of the distractions, we found the lake that surrounds the Temple of Asclepius and rented a boat. We all hopped in and I rowed us out into the water, but it wasn't long before Zoe insisted that she could paddle the boat, so we swapped spots and the cutest boat captain took over.
