Please Touch Outing

For Christmas and her birthday Zoe received a gift certificate and a membership to the Please Touch Museum. We weren't sure how many exhibits there would be accessible to her at such a young age, but this Sunday we decided to check it out. Thank goodness we did because it is a remarkable place with lots of stuff for her to do and, more importantly, lots of enclosed, safe space for her to crawl around in. Take a look at some of the pictures.

First up was the splash pool. It was a little too tall for her to really reach the water, but that's probably not the worst thing. Now, you can see her here holding a red boat, but that was short lived. Every time she grabbed something new, a boat, a duck, whatever, she passed it off to the child closest to her. While we are thrilled that Zoe shares so well, I think this concept was somewhat foreign to the other kids as they just looked at her funny.

There were a lot of slides throughout the museum. She loved all of them equally but for different reasons. She also did a lot of standing and walking. There were a lot of places where she just grabbed onto my hand and followed along with me until something shiny caught her attention.

In storybook land, there were a lot of things she liked, but none more than this ship, which would rock up and down. This was also the only place where her sharing wasn't very good, as she stole another baby's pacifier. There are more pictures in Zoe's set on Flickr. Be sure to check them out.

After we returned home and Zoe had her second nap, we took her out back where I finally set up her little cottage. She immediately fell in love with it, as you can see here.

However, my favorite sequence of shots has to be the answering of the cottage phone. You can't tell me that this isn't awesome.

Again, there are more pictures that you can see on Flickr. I have a number of old pictures I need to scan. Once I do, I'll post them here so you can see just where Zoe get's her good looks.

Paris - Day Five: Louvre, More Gardens, Photobooths, Macaroons, Love

Today was scheduled to be a somewhat random day. We didn't have anything specific we were planning to do, meaning no pre-purchased tickets, but a number of stops to make and things to see. The first stop on our list for the day was a photobooth that was out near Moulin Rouge. It was in a giant, open gallery space where there were people dancing and vendors selling food. We found the booth and took a few pictures. Right near the booth there was an old trailer of some sort that was converted in to a little library. Since Zoe loves books, even if they're in a language she doesn't read, she went in and browsed the selection. She then said she'd like one of these for our house back home. We'll see what we can do. She didn't actually take the book with us, but she wanted to pose with it. At this point it was time to get something to eat, so we hopped on the Metro and took it to Cafe des 2 Moulins, the restaurant from the movie Amelie. The food was great, the...

Girls Night Out Dance

Zoe has her first dance at school, the Girls Night Out Dance, where she brought me as her date. It had been quite some time since I was at such a formal affair, but thankfully I was still able to squeeze in to my suit. Zoe looked as gorgeous as her mother with her fancy clothes, her makeup, and the big bow in her hair. We took a few pictures before we left for the dance, just to capture the moment. I drove us over to the school, and we arrived right on time, beating the crowd. A few of Zoe's friends were there, and before they turned the lights off, I took one, not-so-good, picture. It is nice to know that, as time goes by, some things never change. There was very little dancing for the two of us at the dance. She was very interested in the snacks (treats), the lights that were on the tables, but mostly in the pull up bar at the back of the gym. She spent a solid 15 minutes moving around gym mats so she could stand on them and hang from the bar. Other kids came and went,...

Paris - Day One: Airline Trouble, Eiffel Tower, Metro

We woke up Monday morning to find out that our flight from Newark to Paris had been cancelled, but we were rebooked to fly out the next day on the same flight. Cheryl worked her magic and we transferred to a new flight out of JFK, through London, to Paris with a minimal delay in the timing. With that out of the way, we packed in to the car, made it to JFK and waited for our plane to take off. Fortunately there was plenty of entertainment in the airport, and some sleep on the plane. Unfortunately, when we finally got to Paris, Zoe's bag was missing. Apparently it didn't make the connection. She took the news fairly well. The airline personnel assured us that the bag was on its way and would be delivered to us by 2, 3 at the latest. With that we hopped in a cab to our apartment, which was located in the 10th Arrondissement of Paris. Since it was now Tuesday, thanks to the time change and length of the flight, we wanted to make the most of it, so we set out for the Eiffel...
