Weekend Play Time

This past weekend Zoe and I spent some quality time together while Cheryl and Orly made fresh pasta. First, we took a bike ride to Honest Tom's where she ate a plate full of potatoes. She loves them and I can't go by the store if it isn't breakfast because she knows what's inside but doesn't know what it means when I tell her breakfast is only served in the morning. After that, we went to Clark Park where we got whoopie pies, played on the slides and swings and then rolled a big old tire.

After that busy morning, we went home for a quick nap and then packed in to the car to go visit Mimi and Joe Pop. Part of what was packed was Zoe's bathing suit so she could take a quick dip in the doggy pool.

We stayed for dinner and then got home just in time for bed. The day was a total success as Zoe had a great time playing and Cheryl made a ton of ravioli. As I left for jury duty on Monday morning, Zoe had woken up early, so I went and got her. Since I normally leave the house before she is awake, it was nice to see her. She explained that she wanted to go in to mommy's bed, so I dropped her off and took a quick picture before I had to leave.

That about covers it. I'd give you the link to Flickr, but you should know it by now. Plus, I think all of the pictures are here, so there really isn't anything to see there.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. After a late lunch, we decided to make our way home. As we were about to cross the river, we passed Castle San Angelo and decided to make a stop. Thi...

Italy - Day 2 - Rome

Waking up in Rome to the sound of industrial work, we decided that today we would focus on Villa Borghese and all it has to offer, primarily a row boat rental. On the way there we passed by Piazza del Popolo where we took a few pictures. Zoe grabbed a phone and snapped a few for us, too! Once in the park we made a beeline for the boat rental. Along that line there were fountains and flowers we had never seen before, so we stopped for a quick look. My favorite is Zoe taking her own selfies. She makes such wonderful faces. Making our way through all of the distractions, we found the lake that surrounds the Temple of Asclepius and rented a boat. We all hopped in and I rowed us out into the water, but it wasn't long before Zoe insisted that she could paddle the boat, so we swapped spots and the cutest boat captain took over. Now this is very important because if you ask Zoe or Cheryl they're going to tell you a completely different story. At one point in our ...
