Lilly's Third Birthday

All three of us were able to head up to Bounce U to celebrate Lilly's Third Birthday. Even though we had Zoe's birthday there earlier this year, it was really cool to see that they changed things around and some of the rooms had different inflatable things to play on. Of course, they still had the old reliable, like the giant slides.

But one of the new things that they had this time around was something called Daredevil Island. It was essentially a miniature version of the giant air beds that movie stunt folks jump onto from high up. Zoe wanted to do it so bad, but didn't have the courage to jump. Luckily, I had the courage to throw her.

She was very brave and did it at least 3 times. I was terrified every time I had to jump down after her. Here is a short video clip of her being thrown.

They also had air hockey, which she had played once before with me when we were down the beach. It was the single longest game in history, unfortunately Guinness wasn't there to capture the record.

Once all the bouncing was done there were still plenty of games, including a dance party complete with freezing when the lights came on. Overall, Zoe had a great time.

We hope that Lilly had a happy birthday and we can't wait to get together again.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. Girls Night Out Dance

Zoe has her first dance at school, the Girls Night Out Dance, where she brought me as her date. It had been quite some time since I was at such a formal affair, but thankfully I was still able to squeeze in to my suit. Zoe looked as gorgeous as her mother with her fancy clothes, her makeup, and the big bow in her hair. We took a few pictures before we left for the dance, just to capture the moment. I drove us over to the school, and we arrived right on time, beating the crowd. A few of Zoe's friends were there, and before they turned the lights off, I took one, not-so-good, picture. It is nice to know that, as time goes by, some things never change. There was very little dancing for the two of us at the dance. She was very interested in the snacks (treats), the lights that were on the tables, but mostly in the pull up bar at the back of the gym.
