Carusos At Tyler Park

On Saturday we met up with the Carusos at Tyler park for some playtime and picnicking. Annabelle and Zoe were really happy swinging next to one another. It was cute to see how each of them wanted to go higher than the other, until Zoe was pushed too high, then she didn't want to swing very high any more.

After some vigorous swinging, it was time for a little break. The snacks were consumed both on the bench and on the blanket. I think everyone enjoyed the blanket.

They all did a wonderful job of sharing. Once the snacks were consumed, the playing started all over again.

They ran all over the playground and had a great time together. It is always great to see the kids. When Zoe got home, she was really tired, but she didn't want to nap along. She gathered a few friends and chilled out for a bit on the couch.

I'm not certain that she bathed that night, but the next day she did. Man did she get clean!

I tried to convince her that the hair is a good look for her, but I'm not sure we could get enough hair product to do that out of the water.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. Italy - Day 2 - Rome

Waking up in Rome to the sound of industrial work, we decided that today we would focus on Villa Borghese and all it has to offer, primarily a row boat rental. On the way there we passed by Piazza del Popolo where we took a few pictures. Zoe grabbed a phone and snapped a few for us, too! Once in the park we made a beeline for the boat rental. Along that line there were fountains and flowers we had never seen before, so we stopped for a quick look. My favorite is Zoe taking her own selfies. She makes such wonderful faces. Making our way through all of the distractions, we found the lake that surrounds the Temple of Asclepius and rented a boat. We all hopped in and I rowed us out into the water, but it wasn't long before Zoe insisted that she could paddle the boat, so we swapped spots and the cutest boat captain took over.
