Crayola Experience

As an early birthday treat, we decided to take Zoe up to the Crayola Experience. She loves to color and we had heard great things, plus we had a coupon. There were TONS of activities in the place, starting with creating your own wrapper for a crayon. Zoe did this four times, creating two for herself and one each for Cheryl and me. We then moved on to an area where you could color a picture on a small touch screen and then look at it projected on the wall.

We all colored several pictures and wrote different messages that we had projected. It was also a place that we came back to later in the day. Next was a wall where colors would rain down from the top of a screen and, by stepping in front of a camera, you could wipe away the color. I may have enjoyed this a little more than Zoe did.

There was also an appearance by Green Crayon and we were able to get some pictures with... him? her? it?

They also had a penny machine, one of the things that Zoe also enjoys and collects. She is even getting so good at it that she can turn the handle all on her own.

Finally they had this dark room with light up boards where you can draw on them with markers that would glow. This was really cool and Zoe was very serious about her drawing.

It was a great trip and we picked a good day to go, since it was raining out. Once we go home, her highness decided to take it easy and just relax.

What else would you wear when taking it easy at home?

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. After a late lunch, we decided to make our way home. As we were about to cross the river, we passed Castle San Angelo and decided to make a stop. Thi...

Italy - Day 2 - Rome

Waking up in Rome to the sound of industrial work, we decided that today we would focus on Villa Borghese and all it has to offer, primarily a row boat rental. On the way there we passed by Piazza del Popolo where we took a few pictures. Zoe grabbed a phone and snapped a few for us, too! Once in the park we made a beeline for the boat rental. Along that line there were fountains and flowers we had never seen before, so we stopped for a quick look. My favorite is Zoe taking her own selfies. She makes such wonderful faces. Making our way through all of the distractions, we found the lake that surrounds the Temple of Asclepius and rented a boat. We all hopped in and I rowed us out into the water, but it wasn't long before Zoe insisted that she could paddle the boat, so we swapped spots and the cutest boat captain took over. Now this is very important because if you ask Zoe or Cheryl they're going to tell you a completely different story. At one point in our ...
