Tunnels and Trick or Treat

Zoe has given up on napping at what is generally considered a regular nap time. She has decided that it is much better to stay up all day long, wait until 5:30pm or 6:00pm, sleep for about an hour, and then party hard (and well rested) until bedtime. Well, the other day before the nap, but after a long day, she decided that she wanted to play with her tunnel. To try and be funny, I told her I was going to use it and I jammed myself in, like a sausage in a casing, and proceeded to tell her I was stuck. This didn't phase her as she proclaimed that she would still be able to use the tunnel, even with me wedged in there.

Thankfully Cheryl had the camera nearby.

As you can see, she couldn't just crawl through by herself, she needed to have a paci in her mouth and a wubby in her hand. Thankfully she got tired of it after the 13th time through the tunnel.

This past weekend I took Zoe up to Sesame Place to do some trick or treating. She had been talking about it all week and was very excited to go. She wore her Ariel costume that Cheryl made for her, which looks amazing, and I wore my Batman pajamas. I know what you're thinking, but don't worry. The slipper feet zipper off the bottom, so it was totally appropriate.

Sadly someone threw a fit and then someone else didn't react well to that, so we left earlier than we had planned. Thankfully we were able to hug it out and after a few Twizzlers, we're friends again, even if I am still too loud while she watches TV. Be sure to take a look at the Sesame Place Halloween set on Flickr to see more cuteness.

Meet the Flintstones?!?

Cheryl wanted me to share the following with everyone. These are her words, not mine. Frankly, I know I'm the lucky one. So obviously the blog is Michael's thing, which is great really because if it were up to me it would have started and ended with 99 days left! But I wanted to make a post so I could thank Michael for everything he has done for me throughout this pregnancy and most of all during delivery. There is no question that being with Michael is the smartest thing I've ever done and Zoe is lucky to call him Dad. The reason we had a planned c-section was that Zoe was 'unstable lie'. In the 4 weeks before she was due she was breech, head down, breech, and then head down again. As it was explained to us, this is pretty rare. They expected that even if she was in the right position when I went into labor, she would turn during contractions creating a dangerous situation for all of us. The day of surgery I was still pretty calm. Once I was prepp...

She Poops Because She Cares

One week ago today, Zoe was born. She seems to have adjusted to life in West Philly fairly well. Her pink blanket is one of her favorites to snuggle up with; however, we did learn that much like her father, she hates to bathe. So her first appointment with the peditrician was Wednesday at 11:00am. She seemed to enjoy her ride in the car again, and by that I mean she was passed out the whole way there. The doctor said she was looking good. The jaundice that she had in the hospital is no longer a concern now that she's eating and going to the bathroom regularly. Also, she's working her way back up to her birth weight. After being born at 8lbs 8ozs, she dropped down to 7lbs 13ozs when she was discharged from the hospital. At her appointment she weighed in at 8lbs 3ozs. Later in the day while I was out shopping for essentials (and comic books) Zoe was getting fussy with her mother. We're not entirely sure what the issue was, but we did find out that she loves her swing....

What You Talking About Zoe?

For a while now, Zoe has used several words in rotation. It's hard to say when or what her first word was, but somewhere around 12 months she seemed to be saying "ball" and "cat" regularly. Cat was most likely her first word. At least it was the first word caught on film. We should probably take a moment here to recall the progression of what she calls us. It started out normally with "mama" and "dada". Then progressed to "mommy," but it took a strange turn before it made its way to "daddy". There were several steps before that one. In no particular order, they were "da-mommy", "dummy" and "bummy". My personal favorite was when she would call me "dadadadadadada", but that didn't last very long. Today we're just mommy and daddy. Over the past couple of weeks, Zoe has been mimicking words we say, but just this past weekend she seemed to develop a whole set of words. For ins...
