When Cheryl's Away, Zoe Will Play

This weekend Cheryl went to the Strout's on Friday night to head up early for Uncle George's wedding (Congratulations Uncle George!). While she was gone, Zoe and I got to do a lot of hanging out. Friday night, we just laid around for a while. Then Zoe decided to do a little light reading.

On Saturday morning we went to gymnastics, which was great because it was raining, but more importantly because the Millers met us there. I wasn't able to get many pictures, but there was lots of fun had by all.

After getting home and taking a brief nap, we made our way to Gold Star Park to see the Golden Rollers and the new additions to the team. Even though it was cold, both Karim and Luke seemed happy to be there, and by that I mean they were both sleeping. Zoe was her usual self swinging from the playground and eating her bribe.

Both Zoe and I were very happy to have Cheryl return Saturday night. While we have lots of fun, it's just not the same when she's gone.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Riding Together for the First Time

Today my bike was finally fixed, so I picked it up from the shop before picking Zoe up from Science Club. When she saw my bike she was very excited to go for a ride. It was overcast all day, but the weather held out and it was a beautiful evening, so we rushed home, she finished all her homework, and I loaded her bike onto the car. I packed a bag with some water and a couple snacks and we made our way to Lorimer Park. Before we took off down the trail, I wanted to take a selfie, but I was so excited that I forgot my helmet, so there are two selfies. As soon as I finished the picture she took off down the path. Fortunately I was able to catch up, phone in hand, to take a few pictures as we cruised down the trail. I am a mostly competent bike rider, but trying to pay attention to her, and the trail, and keep myself upright while holding my phone was tricky. Visit from Nana and Poppy

To make sure she didn't forget about her parent's birthday's, Cheryl gave them their presents on the day of the baby shower. For her father, she got a nice webcam so that we could Skype with them to interact with Zoe. A few weeks ago we had done that for the first time and it actually worked out really well. So on Monday, April 2nd, Cheryl's parents came up from Florida to meet Zoe face to face for the first time. On one day Cheryl and Zoe went to Clark Park with Nana and Poppy. Later in the week Cheryl's sister Debbie came by with her daughters, Zoe's cousins, Ashlee and Taylor. Just before they left, Cheryl remembered to take a picture. Here's Zoe with her cousin Taylor.
