First Week Completed

As I sit here typing this there is less than an hour left of alone time with Zoe before her and I will head out to meet Cheryl for the walk back home. This week has been great. Zoe has definitely gotten much bigger and better at doing things. For example, for the past two days I have been carrying her around in her Baby Bjorn and he seems to really enjoy it. I know this because she has passed out in it every time.

My best friend flew in on Wednesday night from Seattle to hang out with Zoe and me for the week. On Thursday, after just meeting her for the first time, he gave her a bottle and burped her. Then, today, both John and George stopped by for breakfast. It was a very nice visit. John has a daughter named Annabelle who is 9 months old and George's son is due to be born in July. We make quite a trio of fathers.

Since Cheryl has been working all week, and I wanted to make sure that she could see her daughter and I were getting along just fine, I took a number of pictures with the camera in my phone. Here are just a few of them.

My phone doesn't have the best camera in it, so these probably won't print very well; however, you can go to Zoe's set on Flickr and see even more of these low quality phone pictures.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Riding Together for the First Time

Today my bike was finally fixed, so I picked it up from the shop before picking Zoe up from Science Club. When she saw my bike she was very excited to go for a ride. It was overcast all day, but the weather held out and it was a beautiful evening, so we rushed home, she finished all her homework, and I loaded her bike onto the car. I packed a bag with some water and a couple snacks and we made our way to Lorimer Park. Before we took off down the trail, I wanted to take a selfie, but I was so excited that I forgot my helmet, so there are two selfies. As soon as I finished the picture she took off down the path. Fortunately I was able to catch up, phone in hand, to take a few pictures as we cruised down the trail. I am a mostly competent bike rider, but trying to pay attention to her, and the trail, and keep myself upright while holding my phone was tricky. So, I decided to take some video where, for the most part, I could rest my hand on the handlebars. She is so good a...

Visit from Nana and Poppy

To make sure she didn't forget about her parent's birthday's, Cheryl gave them their presents on the day of the baby shower. For her father, she got a nice webcam so that we could Skype with them to interact with Zoe. A few weeks ago we had done that for the first time and it actually worked out really well. So on Monday, April 2nd, Cheryl's parents came up from Florida to meet Zoe face to face for the first time. On one day Cheryl and Zoe went to Clark Park with Nana and Poppy. Later in the week Cheryl's sister Debbie came by with her daughters, Zoe's cousins, Ashlee and Taylor. Just before they left, Cheryl remembered to take a picture. Here's Zoe with her cousin Taylor. As always, you can find all of these pictures and more in Zoe's Set on Flickr.
