Paris - The Photobooth Strips

One of the things that we did all across Paris was visit the photobooths. I may have mentioned that once or twice in previous posts. Anyway, those pictures have been scanned and added to Flickr, so I thought I would share them here.

The first two strips here are from the booth in Palais de Tokyo, taken on May 16th. The next two are from the Bon Ton store on Boulevard des Filles du Calvaire, taken on May 17th. The last two were also taken on the 17th at la Maison Rouge.

The first strip here was also from the 17th at la Maison Rouge. The next three were taken at a booth on rue d'Aubervillers on May 19th, while the last two were taken at a booth on Rue des Trois Freres, also on the 19th.

These three strips were all taken at the booth out in Buttes Chaumont. The first one was taken on May 20th, when I was scouting out the booth to make sure it was there and functioning. The next two were taken on the 21st, when all three of us went out there.

This last set goes against our norm, as the booth was digital, but we decided to take them because a) we could get them in color, b) they were displayed horizontally instead of vertically, and c) we were already there. These were all done on May 18th in the booth on Quai d'Austerlitz. The second strip is a receipt that had the last image printed in the opposite of the chosen strip, along with a code to get a digital version online. You can check out Flickr to see the larger versions of these images, along with some other scanned strips.

Election Day

When Zoe was born, Barack Obama was the president. Today the country is voting to determine who will be president for the next four years. It will still be a long time before Zoe gets to cast her own vote, but when Cheryl got home today, the two of them went around the corner to our voting center and did their civic duty. Cheryl took a couple of pictures. The girls are asleep now, and the race is still too close to call, but I assume when we get up tomorrow (hopefully not in the middle of the night) we'll know who who won. I hope everyone got out to vote today! As you can see by her sticker, Zoe did.

Italy - Day 6 - Rome

Since this was our last full day in Rome, we decided to head towards Vatican City. After crossing a bridge, we made our way down the steps to follow the Tiber because Zoe wanted to explore closer to the water. Approaching the Vatican, we stopped just out of smoting range, for Cheryl's protection, before deciding that the view from the gates would suffice. From there we decided we would head out to try some very highly recommended pizza from Bonci. Zoe had to make a stop along the way for some gelato and a bathroom break, which was great because it took an hour to get our food. That being said, it was totally worth the wait! The pizza was amazing and the deep fried pasta balls were bizarre and delicious. While Cheryl was waiting, Zoe and I bought from fresh fruit and vegetables so that she would have something to eat. After a late lunch, we decided to make our way home. As we were about to cross the river, we passed Castle San Angelo and decided to make a stop. Thi...

Italy - Day 2 - Rome

Waking up in Rome to the sound of industrial work, we decided that today we would focus on Villa Borghese and all it has to offer, primarily a row boat rental. On the way there we passed by Piazza del Popolo where we took a few pictures. Zoe grabbed a phone and snapped a few for us, too! Once in the park we made a beeline for the boat rental. Along that line there were fountains and flowers we had never seen before, so we stopped for a quick look. My favorite is Zoe taking her own selfies. She makes such wonderful faces. Making our way through all of the distractions, we found the lake that surrounds the Temple of Asclepius and rented a boat. We all hopped in and I rowed us out into the water, but it wasn't long before Zoe insisted that she could paddle the boat, so we swapped spots and the cutest boat captain took over. Now this is very important because if you ask Zoe or Cheryl they're going to tell you a completely different story. At one point in our ...
